Between 1986 and 1987, Mercury launched its first effort to chronicle Hank Williams' complete recorded works, releasing a series of eight double albums/single CDs which were later collected as a box set. Both the individual compilations and the box set were pulled from the market in the '90s, clearing the way for The Complete Hank Williams, a ten-disc box set which purported to contain all of Williams' recordings. Mercury, however, played it a little loose with their terms, deciding that "complete" covers the studio recordings, demos, and selected live performances, leaving overdubbed tracks and many live cuts (including much of The Health and Happiness Shows, which was released as a separate collection) in the vaults. American music legend Hank Williams has long been considered one of the earliest influences on rock ‘n' roll and in fact was the first of a very few artists to be inducted in both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame. His legacy will be honored in a new 16-disc box set, Hank Williams: The Complete Mother's Best Recordings...Plus! due September 28th via Time Life.
Hank Williams Complete Mother Best Recordings....Plus! features fifteen audio discs and a bonus DVD with performances including Williams' first-ever rendition of "Cold, Cold Heart" and "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You)" just days after they were written, as well as many songs he never recorded elsewhere such as "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and "On Top of Old Smoky." On the DVD, two of Hank's original band members reminisce about his brief, incendiary career. The project also contains a booklet with an introduction by Hank Williams, Jr., afterword by Jett Williams and over one-hundred pages on the history of Williams written by respected music writer and Hank Williams historian, Colin Escott. This deluxe, limited edition set is lavishly packaged in a box designed to look like an antique radio with a working radio dial that plays selections from the radio shows. The 16-disc collector's box set contains 72 complete 15-minute shows, featuring 143 performances by Hank Williams together with conversation, and much more. The music and the unguarded conversation make this the first three-dimensional portrait of an American music legend.
The recordings are from Williams' Mother's Best Flour shows, recorded at the pinnacle of his career in 1951 at radio station WSM. Thinking the shows would only reach a small, mostly rural audience in middle Tennessee, Hank was unguarded in both his conversation and choice of songs. Accordingly, we hear him perform many songs he never performed elsewhere, including some from his childhood. . The original acetate recordings were painstakingly restored after they were salvaged from a trash can by a WSM employee and turned over to Hank's daughter, Jett Williams. The sound quality of these exceptional radio shows is at least comparable to his studio recordings, and many critics have remarked that the "direct-to-disc" Mother's Best recordings actually have more presence and clarity.

Old School New Rules, is as snarling, blunt, and self-assuredly political as any he has ever done. It's also the first release for his own independent Nashville-based record label, Bocephus Records, and it is indicative of how much Williams has taken over complete control of all aspects of his image, work, and career.
Williams has every right to preach his point of view on America and spout off on his personal politics, but when he turns things simpler and deeper and sings about love, pain, and drinking toward some sort of desperate redemption, he unites rather than divides. There aren't really any new rules on this album, just old-school honky tonk dressed up in shiny new boots. The dance is the same -- but who really wants to dance to politics? MaxiMusic is a massive MP3 collection containing over ten thousand oldies, alphabetized and divided into bite-size chunks ready for your listening pleasure. The collection is a time capsule that starts with classical tracks from the early nineteenth century, covering all decades up to the twentieth century. If a song was a hit between 1910 - 2000, there is a good chance it is in here. Although most songs are American and British, there are tastes of international music from around the globe.
This collection belongs to an actual working radio DJ with over 50 years' experience in the music business. He has painstakingly collected these songs from 78 RPM vinyl, reel-to-reel tape, 8-tracks, cassettes, CD's and the early days of MP3. These are used on a weekly request-based radio discotheque show. These songs are quality handpicks that people call in to request airplay: this is not some random jumble of garbage music thrown into a torrent just to rack up seeding credits on a tracker. You will notice some famous artists with only a few songs: he only included what listeners wanted to hear!
This collection contains nearly all the songs from the "Now That's What I Call Music!" compilations released until the year 2000, but this has many rare and hard to find treasures you will find anywhere else on the internet. The artist names in the title of this torrent give a sampling of some the major artists whose hits are in this collection, but there are many more. The tags have been carefully named by the DJ for artist and title.
